Summer Is Here

This week proved to us that summer is most definitely here, we just experienced the hottest June day since 1976 and even though we complain it’s too hot, in reality we don’t really want another usual rainy summer now do we?
As the sun has been shining the British Social Season is well under way. It all kicked off at the end of May with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and now Royal Ascot is in full swing which will be followed by the Royal Henley Regatta this coming Wednesday the 28th of June and Wimbledon on the 3rd of July. As our head office is based close to Henley-on-Thames and Ascot we definitely feel the impact these large scale events have on the locals.
Of course what is interesting to us is the property valuations in the areas surrounding these high calibre events.
The Average Prices Paid for properties in these locations are as follows:
Ascot - £797,146
Henley-on-thames - £785,177
Wimbledon - £753, 354
The average house price in the UK for all types of properties is averaged at £234,794 according to government statistics from January 2017, and although this amount has gone up it is still around £500,000 short of the averages in our list above. Those averages show the demand of property and quality of houses that are expected in these areas.
Therefore it isn’t all that surprising that some residents from Wimbledon, Ascot and Henley-on-Thames may choose to head out of town and rent out their home to visitors in order to cash in large sums for even humble sized properties. This is due to the high demand of accommodation surrounding these events therefore showing the importance the Social Season has on many people, whether it be someone attending the event or a local choosing to leave the area but earn money whilst doing so.
No matter how the economy is looking, no matter what the weather is doing you will always be sure to find us Brits with a Pimms in hand ready to enjoy one of our many Great British Summer Events. Cheers to that!
