CDS help HMLR digitise LLC1
Conveyancing Data Services are excited to announce that we are part of a small group that are BETA testing the new national local land charges (LLC) register.
Over the coming months, HM Land Registry will be building the foundations for a national Local Land Charges (LLC) Register and working with local authorities in England to migrate their LLC records to a centralised digital register.
This is a historic step forward in the Government’s ambition to make the home-buying process simpler and faster, from a land charges perspective. The plan being that over the next few years all Land Charges data will be held in a central register, maintained and guaranteed by HMLR and easily accessible by anyone wishing to view it.
The Local Land Charges Rules 2018 detail how Local Land Charges applications can be registered, how registration is completed and how the new national register can be searched. But rest assured Conveyancing Data Services will be at the forefront of this project and any future developments and will keep you posted about the phased handover from Local Authorities to HMLR along the way.
Moving forward the Land Registry will provide detailed guidance for local authorities and others who need to apply to register charges and, subsequently, to vary or cancel the registrations.
However all Con29 data will still be collected, held and maintained by the Local Authorities themselves.
We will endeavor to keep you updated about this collaboration and we are really excited about being able to be part of something that will benefit our customers by being able to make property transactions more streamlined!
