Lee Tennant running the Brighton Marathon for BCC
Our colleague Lee Tennant our Customer Service Team Leader (Ancillary Team) has signed up for the 2015 Brighton Marathon on Sunday 12th April at 9.15am.
Lee will be running for Breast Cancer Campaign. A charity which is close to his heart after his girlfriend was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 13th August (just three days before her birthday). Lee’s girlfriend is currently undergoing gruelling treatment to rid herself of the disease.
Breast Cancer Campaign are a unique community of scientists, supporters and people affected by breast cancer. They fund world-class breast cancer research projects in the UK and Ireland that provide the greatest potential to benefit patients.
In the last twenty years, the campaign to overcome breast cancer has gone from strength to strength, and more women are outliving the disease than ever before. But, it's still the most common form of cancer.
Every year 50,000 women are diagnosed, 12,000 die, and millions of us live with its long-term impact.
And it's on the increase - there are currently thought to be around 570,000 people living with or after a breast cancer diagnosis in the UK, and this figure is estimated to rise to over 1.2 million by 2030.
They passionately believe they owe it to every woman affected by breast cancer to explore every avenue to overcome and outlive this disease – in our lifetime.
