COPSO (Council of Property Search Organisations) is the major trade association for the property search industry. Members provide a broad range of property search reports including local, environmental, mining, chancel repair, drainage and water data.
The Search Code are the regulations that COPSO produce to ensure all personal local searches are compliant. COPSO was set up to provide a professional voice for companies producing property search reports and to drive forward standards within the sector.
CDS joined as Executive Members of COPSO to keep at the forefront of the regulations and ensure our searches are as compliant with the code as possible.
PCCB (Property Codes Compliance Board) are the enforcers of the Search Code, and are an entiraly independent body who’s sole purpose is to enforce the Search Code amongst it’s members.
Since 2006 when the Search Code was introduced COPSO & PCCB have been working together ever since in this ever changing property market.
WHAT THE SEARCH CODES PROVIDES
- Set’s out minimum standards which organisations compiling and selling search reports have to meet.
- Promotes the best practice and quality standards within the industry for the benefit of consumers and property professionals.
- Enables consumers and property professionals to have confidence in organisations which subscribe to the Code, their products and services.
